Abstract

The method of geometric shell modeling resting on four spatial contour with-holding segments
of conic sections is given. For the surface forming one-parameter set of curves of the second order
with variable eccentricity is used. Shell form management is provided by changing the shape of the
auxiliary ruled surfaces. The example of construction of a composite shell for spatial reference circuit
with-holding link with a break is given. The comparison of the membranes obtained by the proposed
method and bicubic spline interpolation is performed. It is shown that when using spline interpolation
on the design surface one can see unacceptable oscillations.
Keywords: smooth shell, segment of a conic section, kinematic method, forming curve, guide
curve, contacting surface.
