In Memory of Yuriy Kovalev

Abstract

The editorial board of the series "Mathematics. Mechanics. Physics" Bulletin of SUSU deeply regrets to inform you that on September 19, 2025, Yuri Mikhailovich Kovalev, Doctor of Physico–Mathematical Sciences, Professor, member of the Russian National Committee for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, corresponding member of the Petrovsky Academy of Sciences and Arts, specialist in the field of mathematical modeling of fast-flowing processes in multicomponent and multiphase media, constructing equations of state for energy and structural materials. For his outstanding contribution to the development of Russian science and technology, Yuri Mikhailovich Kovalev was awarded the Rosatom State Corporation badge "For Contribution to the Development of the nuclear industry", the badge "Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education", the medal "300 Years of the Russian Navy", the medal "Centenary of the Russian Submarine Forces", and the medals of the Russian Federation of Cosmonautics. Academician V.P. Makeev, named after V.I. Kuznetsov, named after V.P. Barmin, S.P. Korolev badge of the Russian Aerospace Agency. Yuri Mikhailovich was a member of the editorial board of the journal Bulletin of the South Ural State University, series "Mathematics. Mechanics. Physics". Physics", staff, graduate students and students of the Department of Computational Mechanics, which he led for many years, express their sincere condolences to their families and friends.
