Abstract

The rhodium complex [trans-Na∙18-crown-6∙(dmso-O)2]+ [trans-RhBr4(dmso-S)2](1) has been  synthesized by interaction of Na3RhBr6 with 18-crown-6 in dimethylsulfoxide, its structure has been characterized. The atoms of sodium in  two crystallographically independent cations of 1 have virtually undistorted trigonal dodecahedron coordination with six oxygen atoms of 18-crown-6 in the equatorial plane and two axially positioned oxygen atoms of dimethyl sulfoxide ligands (angles ONaO equal 59.27(15)°-61.03(15)°, 179.998(1)°, 180.000(1)°, the bonds are 2.718(5)-2.869(7) Å for Na-Oeq, 2.255(7)-2.247(7) Å for Na-Oax). In the octahedral anion [trans-RhBr4(dmso-S)2]- the distances equal 2.3332(14), 2.3242(14) Å for Rh–S; 2.4680(8)-2.4955(9) Å for Rh-Br; the angles are: SRhS 179.11(6)°, trans-BrRhBr 177.22(3)°, 178.80(3)°).
