The Experience of Analysis of Music Performance by Means of Precision Methods

The article is about a study of music recording done to reveal peculiarities of a musician's performance manner through analysis of a series of values acquired from a sound file. The music and its recording are studied on several levels of detail, which is reflected in the description of the suggested system of models. Some examples of using these models are given. A great deal of the article is related to analysis of various statistic quantities calculated for fragments of the recording. The analysis evaluates the statistic quantities in terms of their utility in a quantitative description of music interpretation.
