AUTHOR'S GUIDE
RECOMMENDATIONS TO AUTHORS
I. RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE AUTHOR BEFORE THE SUBMISSION OF THE ARTICLE
Submission of the article to the journal assumes that:
- the article was not published earlier in another journal;
- the article is not under consideration in another journal;
- all co-authors agree with the publication of the current version of the article.
Before sending the article for consideration, make sure that the file (files) contains all necessary information in Russian and English, correctly specified sources of information and references to them, figures and tables are readable.
II. HOW TO SUBMIT AN ARTICLE FOR CONSIDERATION
The manuscript of the article is sent to the editorial office via the online form. The file with the article uploaded to the system should be submitted in Microsoft Word format (with extension *.doc, *.docx, *.rtf).
III. REQUIREMENTS TO THE STRUCTURE OF THE ARTICLE
The article includes:
1. Title page.
2. Introduction.
3. Main sections.
4. Conclusions (conclusion).
5. Acknowledgements/ sources of funding.
6. List of references.
7. References.
8. Information about authors.
1. Title page
It includes:
- UDC
UDC is a system of classification and information which is used all over the world for systematization of works of science, literature and art, periodical printing, various types of documents and organization of file cabinets. It is possible to pick up UDC on the contents of the article, using, for example, https://www.teacode.com/online/udc/.
- Title of the article
The title of the article should contain no more than 12-15 words. The title shall be submitted in Russian and English. The title of the article in the Russian language must correspond to the content of the article. The English-language name must be competent in terms of English, and in terms of meaning fully correspond to the Russian-language name.
- List of authors
The list of authors is presented in the form of initials and surname. The list of authors should not include people who are not the authors of the article. The names of people who are not authors but who have provided other support should be listed in the Acknowledgements section.
In Russian, when indicating the authors of the article, the initials in front of the surname should be indicated on the title page, and in the information about the authors and in bibliographic lists - after the surname.
In English the format "Name initial, patronymic initial, surname" (I. I. Ivanov) is used when indicating the authors of the article. The surnames in English should be indicated according to the foreign passport or as it was indicated in the previously published articles. If the author does not have a foreign passport and/or publications, the BGN standard should be used to translate the name and surname)
- Author's affiliation
Affiliation includes the following data: the full official name of the organization, city and country. Authors should indicate all locations relevant to the study.
If authors from different institutions participated in the preparation of the article, it is necessary to indicate the affiliation of each author to a particular institution by means of a superscript.
The official English language name of the institution for the information block in English is required.
- Abstract
Recommended length of structured abstract: 250-300 words.
The abstract contains the following sections: Purpose, Methods, Results, Conclusion. The following Guidelines for writing an abstract should be followed.
The abstract should not include the first introduced terms, abbreviations (except for well-known ones), references to literature. The abstract should be presented in Russian and English, and the content of the English-language abstract should fully correspond to the Russian-language title. The following Recommendations can be used in the abstract.
- List of keywords.
5-7 words on the subject of the article, defining the subject area of the text.
Key words are presented in Russian and English.
Example of title page design is given in Appendix 1 (https://vestnik.susu.ru/upload/journals/1/Sample_of_the_Title_Page.pdf).
2. Introduction
The introduction contains:
- justification of the urgency of the problem to be solved, the essence of the problem;
- a brief introduction to the problem, a retrospective, a brief history of the issue - by whom, what, how, when and where it was done (if necessary);
- abstract description of the problem statement;
- description of possible practical application of the results obtained;
- the merits of the methods developed/used and/or the results compared to others.
3. Main sections.
The main sections contain:
- mathematical formulation of the problem;
- disclosure of the method of problem solving;
- disclosure of scientific novelty (if any);
- results of numerical modeling/natural experiments;
- analysis of the obtained results.
4. Conclusions (conclusion)
The section contains:
- summary of analytical/numerical/natural research results;
- advantages and prospects of implementation of the solutions proposed in the work.
Requirements to the content of the sections do not apply to articles of review and analytical and historical nature, which are carried out on the instructions of the editorial board.
5. Acknowledgements/ sources of funding
This section lists all sources of funding for the study, as well as thanks to people who have contributed to the article but are not authors of it. Participation in the work on the article implies: recommendations for improving the research, providing space for research, departmental control, obtaining financial support, single types of analysis, providing various materials for the research.
6. List of references
Literature is given in citation order. It is desirable that the number of sources was at least 15. The list of literature is drawn up in accordance with the State Standard "Bibliographic description of the works of the press" of 2004. When drawing up the list of literature, it is necessary to be guided by the following Recommendations on drawing up the list of literature.
7. References
Additionally, the list of literature is drawn up in Latin - References (Rules for drawing up the list of literature in the Latin alphabet).
8. Information about authors
At the end of the article there is a list of authors (line by line, with full name, place of work and position, e-mail address, cell phone) in Russian and English, author responsible for the preparation of the manuscript is marked with an asterisk (* before the name).
Numbers of cellular telephones are not published, they are necessary for edition (if there is a necessity to contact urgently the author).
IV. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ARTICLE
1. General information.
The article is executed in Microsoft Word editor. It is recommended to use the MathType formula editor, otherwise - Microsoft Equation. The font used everywhere is Times New Roman, 14 pt. The line spacing is one and a half times everywhere. Page parameters: all fields (right, left, top, bottom) - 3 cm. Paragraph alignment - by width. The indent of the first line of the paragraph is 0.7 cm. The automatic word transfer mode should be enabled. The volume of the article is not more than 25 pages!
2. Sections.
The "Introduction", "Outputs"/"Conclusion" and "Literature" sections are not numbered. The main sections of the article are numbered in Arabic numerals 1, 2, etc. It is allowed to nesting of sections up to two depths, i.e. using sections 1.1, 1.2, etc. The section title is printed in bold.
3. Main text.
Numbered and unnumbered lists in the main text have an indentation of 0.7 cm. The quotes « » are used everywhere. The letter «ё» is not used, but «е» is used instead it.
Dash (Alt + 0150), (Ctrl + «minus on the small keyboard») is used when specifying ranges (pp. 15–22, XX–XXI centuries), several people (Bio – Savara – Laplace law). The hyphen is put in compound words, such as still, low-frequency filter, engineering, blue-green, Golenishchev-Kutuzov (surname of one person), in the names of objects (bomber B-2, installation XSH-500), as well as in the forms of i-th, j-th, 3rd, 5th, 1st.
It is allowed to use abbreviations etc., i.e., i.e. Initial and last names are separated by an indissoluble space (Ctrl + Shift + Space): A.V. Smirnov.
4. Special symbols, formulas, numbers, units of measurement.
Formulas are executed in the MathType or Equation editor.
The formula is followed by a number in parentheses. Only formulas that are referenced in the text are numbered. Through numbering is applied, i.e. formulas are numbered from the beginning to the end of the article. Formulas are numbered in Arabic numerals 1, 2, etc. There is no space between the formula and the number.
The formula should logically be terminated with signs «;», «,», «.». Formulas included in the text string should be typed, if possible, without increasing the interval between the lines (e.g., a3/sign(b), exp(s0x/|R|)).
As a «minus» sign in arithmetic expressions a dash "–" (for example, 15x–7) is used, typed from the keyboard as (Alt + 0150), or (Ctrl + «minus on a small keyboard»).
The size and the outline of the same symbols should coincide in the text, in formulas, in tables, in figures!
In the MathType or Equation editor, the following settings should be made: in the Size – Define menu, the font size (Full) is 14 pt; the size of the upper/lower indexes (Subscript/Superscript) is 71% of the main font; the size of the secondary indexes (Sub-Subscript/Superscript) is 58%. The dimensions can only be set in the Size – Define menu. It is not allowed to forcibly set the font sizes of individual elements of formulas (using the command Size – Other or assigning the size Size – Symbol to individual elements).
There should be an unbreakable space between the number and the unit of measurement (Ctrl + Shift + Space).
The separating sign of the integer and decimal parts of the number is a comma!
When an integer with more than 5 digits is indicated, an indissoluble space separates the end of the integer from the three lowest digits; it is desirable to use a power form with a base of 10 for such digits, or an alphabetic indication of a unit of measurement (e.g., 10,000, 200,000, 35,000,000, 3,5×1010, 35 billion).
Dot is not placed after millions, billions, trillions. After months, thousands, years, years, the dot is placed.
In complex units of measurement the signs «×» and «/», negative degrees are used. A degree mark of «°» (but not °С) is not separated by a space. For example: 6,5×104N×cm, 0,5 rad/s, 8.5 mol-1, 15–22°, –20°С, 273–300 K, 760 mm Hg.
Numerals, functions, sum characters (S), works (P), special symbols ($, etc.), chemical elements, brackets, Greek and Russian letters are typed in direct not bold font.
Latin letters are typed in italics, except for a) previous cases; b) a fragment of the text in Latin; c) a vector or matrix is indicated by a Latin letter. Vectors and matrices are always bold, without italics.
Examples: dx, mod(h), e–t/g, exp(sin(wt)), 199Hg+, , Rº |R| = const, W(p) = W(jw) – transfer function (scalar); W(p) - transfer matrix; An´nBn´n= (BTAT)T – product of matrixes.
5. Tables.
The tables must be of good quality and suitable for printing. Tables suitable for editing are preferable to scanned or drawn tables.
Tables are numbered and named. The table number and its name are typed in bold and aligned at the right edge. The dot after the table name is not placed.
Table boundaries, dividing lines, pointers, axes and lines in charts and figures must be at least 0.5 pt thick and have a black color.
Tables are numbered in Arabic numerals in order of sequence in the text. If the table in the text is single, it is not numbered. References to tables are made as follows: "In Table 3 it is specified that ..." or "It is specified that ... (Table 3)".
The name and content of the table should be duplicated in English. The translation of the table title should be placed after the table title in Russian.
Tables can be provided in a separate file of *.doc, *.docx, *.rtf format.
6. Pictures.
Bitmap images with a resolution of at least 300 dpi are provided. Drawings must be of good quality, suitable for printing.
All drawings must have captions. Picture caption includes the sequence number of the drawing and its name, typed in bold under the drawing, aligned to the center. The dot after the caption is not put down.
The figure signature must be duplicated in English. The translation of the figure signature should be placed after the figure signature in Russian.
Figures are numbered in Arabic numerals in order of sequence in the text. If there is only one figure in the text, it is not numbered.
All figures should be referenced in the text of the article. Links to the figures are arranged as follows: "In the figure. 3 it is specified that ..." or "It is specified that ... (Fig. 3)".
Pictures can be inserted into the text of the article, or provided in a separate file format *.doc, *.docx, *.rtf.
Note: If the author/authors want the picture(s) to be printed in "color", it is necessary to mark the picture(s) next to (below) the words "Color picture!”
7. Literature.
a) The list of references is drawn up in accordance with the State Standard "Bibliographic description of printing works" of 2004. References to all these sources must be present in the text of the article. In references, the source numbers are separated by an indissoluble space (Ctrl + Shift + Space). When specifying a continuous series of sources, a dash is placed between the first and the last, for example, [12, 15], [9-16, 18, 20-29].
b) Rules of registration of Russian sources in the lists of literature in the Latin alphabet.
If the article indicated by the reference was translated into English and published in the English version of the journal, it is necessary to indicate the reference from the translated source! You can find the translated source, for example, on the website: http://www.mathnet.ru
As a rule, bibliographic descriptions of publications are made in the following sequence: authors (transliteration), translation of the title of the article into English, title of the article in transliterated version in square brackets, name of the source (transliteration, italics), output data with designations in English. Please note that all words except articles, unions and prepositions in the titles of articles and journal titles are capitalized.
On the website http://www.translit.ru/ you can use the program of transliteration of the Russian text into Latin for free (by choosing the variant of the Board of Geographic Names (BGN) system).
c) The list of literature includes only reviewed sources (articles from scientific journals and monographs) mentioned in the text of the article.
It is not recommended to include in the list of literature abstracts of dissertations, dissertations, textbooks, manuals, methodical aids, theses, collections of scientific works, GOSTs, information from websites, statistical reports, articles in social and political newspapers, on websites and blogs. If it is necessary to refer to such information, this should be done through a footnote.
8. Typical mistakes in the paperwork
1. Please do not provide any oblique, "dirty", fuzzy drawings.
2. It is not allowed to force the font size of individual elements of formulas with the command Size - Other or to assign the size Size - Symbol to individual elements in MathType editor.
V. CONFLICT OF INTEREST
A conflict of interest is an environment in which people have conflicting or competing interests that can influence editorial decisions. Conflicts of interest can be potential or perceived, as well as actual ones. Objectivity may be affected by personal, political, financial, scientific or religious factors.
The author must notify the editor of the actual or potential conflict of interest by including the conflict of interest in the relevant section of the article.
If there is no conflict of interest, the author must also disclose it. Example wording: "The author declares that there is no conflict of interest".
GUIDELINES FOR COMPILING A LIST OF REFERENCES
The "List of Literature" is an extreme mandatory structural section of the scientific article, which always follows the "Conclusions" and is related to its subject matter.
This section is mandatory not only for the article, but also for other types of publications claiming the status of "scientific" (for example, for the thesis of the report), such a list includes literary primary sources, purposefully developed (not just read) by the author of the article, and directly or indirectly related to the scientific and thematic materials presented in it. The absence of references in the publication to the existing primary sources deprive it of scientific continuity and call into question the scientific competence of the author, as a scientist who owns at least some information on the issue under study.
Before compiling the "Literature List" for your article, carefully read the corresponding requirements of the journal's editorial board and the peculiarities of its design in already published articles.
The "Literature List" is intended for demonstration to the reader of those existing information materials, which were worked out and used by the author in his article and for substantiation of the actual problem, and the scientific goal, and tasks, and methods, and interpretation of the obtained results. Therefore, the most valuable of them are those literary primary sources, which contribute to the adequate formulation of the author and unequivocal understanding of the reader of the actual problem, thereby justifying the need for its elimination (scientific consideration, study), the lack of authority, and / or the lack of modernity of such primary sources will not allow the author of the article to explain, and the reader to understand, first of all, why it was necessary to conduct the presented research. Also, it may not be clear what the relevance of the problem is and why it had to be resolved, and/or why the appropriate methods were applied, and/or a specific interpretation of the results was made, etc.
The "literary list" indirectly demonstrates the expediency of the conducted research, the legitimacy of the obtained results and explains their peculiarities from the point of view of achieving the set thematic goal.
In addition, the content of the "List of Literature" may also indicate the scientific and publishing status of the author of the article, which is due to the number and genre of his scientific works, given in connection with the scientific subject matter under consideration. If such works are scientific articles in well-known thematic scientific journals, then this status is much higher than if only the theses of various scientific events or methodical manuals, or popular scientific publications, or newspaper articles are given. In other words, only the presence in the "Literature List" of author's full-fledged scientific articles published in the well-known scientific periodicals, can testify to the high scientific professionalism of the author in the problem under consideration. And this, in turn, guarantees the reliability of the submitted materials and their overall scientific value, while references to other possible varieties of author's scientific publications (theses, methods, etc.) are much less conducive to this.
At present, most often, thematic non-scientificity is characteristic of the unofficial Internet resource. The term "unofficial Internet resource" is understood to mean supposedly scientific sites that are not controlled by official scientific academic structures, and the publications posted on them are not subject to professional scientific review, respectively. Such quasi-scientific materials pose an information threat, especially to novice authors-scientists, as they may turn out to be either unreliable or distorted, or even erroneous.
Information characteristics of the "Literature List", which testifies to the scientific awareness and thematic professionalism of the author of the article, are:
1) scientific authority of the mentioned scientists,
2) modernity of references to primary sources,
3) the range of years of their publication,
4) total number,
5) the number of domestic and foreign ones among them.
The higher the authority and the more modern the publications, the greater their time range and quantity, the higher the trust in the scientific materials presented in the article and in its author, as a scientist who understands the problem well. Therefore, when writing the article, be sure to take these characteristics into account in your list of references to demonstrate the quality of information support for the scientific material you provide.
The minimum number of literary primary sources in the list of literature is 15.
The usual "List of Literature" is presented by the list of bibliographic data on literary primary sources, to which the author of the article refers in its text when presenting the relevant scientific material. This list is compiled either in alphabetical order, according to the first letter of the surname of the author of the original source (or the first of the co-authors), or in the order of their mentioning (reference) in the text of the article, as it is stated. It is obligatory that all primary sources given in the text of the article, regardless of the peculiarities of their presentation, should be contained in the "Literature List" and vice versa. After writing the article, this correspondence should be carefully checked and double-checked.
It is not possible to refer to officially unpublished publications (articles, theses, monographs, etc.), even if it is known exactly when and where they will be published (wait for this moment and only then refer to them).
When using foreign publications in an article, their bibliographic attributes are given only in the original language.
It is more expedient to use numbered list. In this case, after the first mentioning in the text of the article of information related to the original source, in square brackets is put its serial number on the next fact of reference, which corresponds to the same number of the same original source in the numbered "List of literature".
Sometimes you have to refer to literary primary sources, which you have learned about from other people's publications, and "personally" do not have the opportunity to read them. In such circumstances, even if you trust the authors, still check the correctness of the bibliographic attributes. This is particularly true for the name of the original source, the author and the year of publication, which should preferably be checked by the library catalogue.
When citing different primary sources in the "Literature List" of your scientific article, it is not advisable to refer to your own scientific publications devoted to or related (directly or indirectly) to the subject matter you are developing, as this is a "self-citation" of the author. Nevertheless, it is better to try to refer to other authors, first of all, well-known scientists and/or the latest thematic publications, preferably journal publications, against the background of their scientific works.
Through this approach to the creation of a "Literature List", you will demonstrate to the reader your thematic awareness, increase your scientific authority and increase your visibility among professionals by providing them with your publications related to the topic under consideration.
AUTHOR'S ABSTRACTS TO SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES IN THE JOURNAL
1. Basic requirements, goals and objectives of the author's summary
The author's abstract is a brief summary of the larger, scientific volume of work. The author's abstract can be published independently, in isolation from the main text and, therefore, should be clear without reference to the publication itself.
After the abstract, the reader should determine whether to refer to the full text of the article in order to obtain more detailed information of interest to him/her.
The author's abstract to the article is the main source of information in domestic and foreign information systems and databases indexing the journal.
The author's abstract is available on the journal's website for public review on the Internet and is indexed by network search engines.
Author's abstract in Russian language is the basis for preparation of author's abstract in English language. The author's abstract in English is included in the English-language block of information about the article, which is uploaded to the English-language version of the journal's website and is prepared for foreign abstract databases and analytical systems (citation indices).
2. Structure, content and scope of the author's abstract
The author's abstract should set out the essential facts of the work, and should not exaggerate or contain material that is not in the main body of the publication.
The structure of the abstract, which repeats the structure of the article and includes an introduction, goals and objectives, methods, results, conclusions (conclusions), is welcomed.
However: the subject, topic, purpose of the work is indicated if they are not clear from the title of the article; it is advisable to describe the method or methodology of work if they are new or interesting from the point of view of the work.
The results of the work are very precise and informative. The main theoretical and experimental results, actual data, relationships and patterns are presented. In doing so, preference is given to new results and data of long-term significance, important discoveries, conclusions that disprove existing theories, as well as data that, in the opinion of the author, are of practical importance.
Conclusions can be accompanied by recommendations, assessments, suggestions, hypotheses described in the article.
The information contained in the title of the article should not be repeated in the text of the author's summary.
Unnecessary introductory phrases should be avoided (e.g., "the author of the article is considering...").
Historical references, if they do not constitute the main content of the document, the description of previously published works and well-known provisions in the author's resume are not given.
The text of the author's abstract should use syntactic constructions peculiar to the language of scientific and technical documents, avoid complex grammatical constructions.
In the text of the author's summary should be used meaningful words from the text of the article.
The text of the author's abstract should be concise and concise, free from secondary information, unnecessary introductory words, general and insignificant formulations.
The text should be coherent, and the disparate provisions should follow logically from one another.
Abbreviations and conventions, other than those in common use, are used in exceptional cases, or are deciphered and defined at the first use in the author's abstract.
The author's resume does not refer to the publication number in the list of references to the article.
The volume of the author's abstract text is determined by the content of the publication (the volume of information, its scientific value and/or practical meaning), but should not be less than 200-250 words (for Russian-language publications - preferably a larger volume).
