CHOOSING THE DIRECTION OF DEVELOPMENT AND DIGITALIZATION OF A REGION BASED ON THE TYPOLOGY OF ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE SYSTEM PARADIGM

In the article the problem of choosing the key directions of digitalization of the economy of Russian regions is considered. The purpose of the work is to select the economic systems in which it is recommended to implement digitalization processes. The paper shows the advantages and disadvantages of the existing approaches to distinguishing between economic activities in comparison with classification within the frameworks of the system economic paradigm. The typology classification of economic activities allows to propose the concept of the system shape of a region as its system visual characteristic. Also, a new methodical approach to the economic assessment of the system development of the region is suggested. For each Russian region the characteristic system shape of the region, based on the region’s economic indicators, is constructed. Region’s system development deviation from the ideal is measured, and the hypothesis of a linear dependence of the measure of the deviation on the size of the “bottleneck” in the region’s system is put forward and confirmed.
