Abstract

This paper investigates the effectiveness of public transport lanes. The study compares the current cost of the transport work and the cost of transport work when increasing the average speed of travel with dedicated public transport lanes. The recommendations of the Russian Ministry of Transport were used as the basis for the feasibility study. Based on changes in speed and travel times, the effect on the budget is assessed in monetary terms. Depending on the increase in speed, the budget effect is associated with a reduction in the required number of vehicles to deliver the same levels of transport services for the population. The methodology allows us to evaluate not only the change in traffic flow parameters when implementing dedicated lanes for public transport, but also the economic effect of increasing the speed of travel. The work analyzes the economic effect of organizing a dedicated lane using specific municipal routes in the city of Chelyabinsk.
