THE MAIN TRENDS OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT: THE ROOM FOR OPPORTUNITIES

The article considers the issues of economic dynamics of regional development. The directions dominating in which are the factors determining the main trends in the region’s functioning (economic, technological, demographic and social) are identified. The system of indicators reflecting the dynamics of economic processes in the region for the period 2014-2018 is formed; the trends describing the main tendencies of these changes are identified, and their nature is determined (by their direction, speed of changes, etc.). The risks associated with adverse trends in social-and-economic processes and methods to neutralize them are identified. The possibilities of strengthening the favorable tendencies in regional development are analyzed.
