Russian state in the end of XVII сentury: evolution or revolution? (to the question about alternatives of the reforms of Peter the Great)

This article analyze the situation around historiographical problems of probability
of nonviolent alternatives radical reforms Peter I. Explanatory model, that
rejects the soft versions of “Revolution of the Peter the Great”, was formed by the
XIX century, and in the XX century became the dominant model. The possibility
of an evolutionary development of Russia at the turn of XVII—XVIII centuries
once again became relevant because of the development of historical alternativism
in the late XX century. The author considers a comprehensive study state of
Russian state ahead of the reforms of the Peter the Great as the most productive
area analysis of this problem.
