The work examines the study of P. N. Zyryanov in church history, provides an overview of the
works of the historian on the subject. The research analyzes the transformation of scientist’s views on the history of the ROC. A historiographic analysis of Zyryanov’s monographs “The Orthodox Church in the fight against the revolution of 1905-1907.” (1984) and “Russian monasteries and monasticism in the XIX and early XX century” (1999) is carried out. The main thesis of the article is the great contribution of the scientist to the study of the history of the ROC issues, which caused Zyryanov’s fame and prestige among church historians. The work concluded that there is no stagnation in the views of the historian in the process of historical research.
