Abstract

This article provides an overview of literary artworks created by Soviet writers in Sevastopol. The overwhelming majority of these artworks were dedicated to the heroic history of the city, particularly to the First Siege of 1854-1855, and a Second Siege in 1941-1942. By using the problem-chronological and comparative-historical methods, the author concludes that the attention of the Soviet Union government to war themes in art was part of ideological course of patriotism and prepare for a potential war. This trend was based on historical traditions of Russian literature in which the images of heroic Russian military achievements were in key positions.
