The North-Western periphery of the Ural-Mugodzhary mining and metallurgical cent er of the Late Bronze Age

Abstract

In the Late Bronze Age within a separate physiographic region in the middle reaches of the Ural
river population of the local variant Alakul culture were developed raw-material sources, confined to ultrabasic rocks. Compact archaeological districts are grouped around them synchronous mining objects, represented workings of the copper mines. Such production structure can be regarded as local centers for the metal fabrication space. Cultural identity was provided by the presence of its own mineral resource base for non-ferrous metallurgy, played an important role in the sustenance. Ancient mines and associated archaeological sites form the North-Western periphery of the Urals- Mugodzhary mining and metallurgical center of the Late Bronze Age. Its functioning is associated with the production of metal of Kozhumberdynskaya cultural groups. Site located outside the region, relate to other cultural areas and historical and metallurgical entities.
