Pictures heroic past of Sevastopol: Panorama “Defense of Sevastopol in 1854—1855 GG ” And Diorama ‘Storm of Sapun Mountain on May 7, 1944.”

Abstract

The history of creation of the most known picturesque pictures devoted to heroic pages of history
of Sevastopol is considered. With use of comparative-historical and chronological methods the
important role of a panorama and a diorama locates in formation of an image of Sevastopol in historical
memory of the Soviet society. The special attention is paid to the analysis of archival documents
and materials of periodicals through which some features of perception of a panorama and diorama
inhabitants and city visitors Sevastopol in the second half of the XX century reveal.
