Abstract

The article centres attention on the interaction of science and religion during perestroika, which
formed various discourses — atheistic, religious and scientific. Discourse analysis of the journal
«Nauka i religiya» (Science and Religion) for 1985-1991 years helped to understand the features of
the transformation of mass consciousness and worldview in combination with models of behaviour in
state-confessional relations (scientists, agitators, believers, clergymen). Religious discourse consists
of such topics as problems of the image of a believer, types of religiosity, and the role of religion in
society. Analyses of the scientific discourse confines attention strictly to the problem of scientific
morality, esp. morality of the scientist.
