In this paper the author examines the practical activities of the authorities in organizing of special
commissions, in order to eliminate negative phenomena in church chanting and carry out its reform.
The commissions consisted of leading masters of church singing art. The researcher, on the basis
of documentary and narrative sources, was able to clarify the dates of work and the names of the
members of the commissions, to reveal the general results of their activities.
