The Concept of "Career": Analysis of Terms

Abstract


The results of the research, the purpose of which was the indication of the most important aspects of career studies, are presented. Attention paid to the separation of careers related concepts. To do this, we used a content analysis of the definitions presented in the thesis, dictionaries and scientific literature. The result was marked by the multidimensionality of the phenomenon. Most definitions indicate the procedural nature of career, that is presented mostly in social and professional cases. The most significant functions are: success achievement, accumulation of professional experience, professional self-determination and professional self-expression. As a result, the  the scope of related concepts was defined, and the most general tendencies of studying of this phenomenon were highlighted and future development of the research were marked. A promising area of research is the study of the  stages. This will allow a more detailed study of personal context.
