Main policies of multiculturalism in Russia

Abstract

This article analyzes the policy of multiculturalism in Russia. Marked heterogeneity
of migration flows and proves the necessity of differentiation of the policy
according to the different categories of migrants. Compared concepts such as
«assimilation», «integration» «engagement» and based on these different models
of indigenous migrants. Migration is seen as a basis for the emergence and development
of multiculturalism, different interpretations and analyzes the problematic
aspects of the latter. The author considers the Russian model of multiculturalism
and compares it with models of other countries, noting its similarity to the Australian
model. The necessity of ethnic tolerance, not only by the indigenous population,
but also by visitors, noted that the main type is forced tolerance. The author comes
to the conclusion that fragmentation, low efficiency and uncoordinated policy of
multiculturalism in Russia.
