  3. Recommendations for submitting abstracts of articles

    A concise and factual abstract is required (of about 100 – 250 words). An abstract is often referred to separately from the article, so it must be able to stand alone.

    The abstract should include the following aspects:

    • object of the article and purpose of the research;
    • methods or methodology of the research;
    • principal results;
    • sphere of application of the results;
    • major conclusions.

    The abstract should contain the scientific content of the article, information about the problem under solution, methods of solution, results and conclusions. References to the literature should preferably not occur in the abstract. Figures, formulae, diagrams, charts, schemes, bibliography and sources of financing should be avoided.

    The text of abstracts should use the syntax of scientific and technical documents, complex grammatical structures are unacceptable.

    The author should present the abstract in English as well. Terminology in the English version should be peculiar to foreign technical documentation. It is advisable to avoid terminology which is the equivalent of Russian terms. It is necessary to maintain the unity of terminology within the abstract.
