EXPLICATION OF TIME CONCEPT IN ENGLISH FICTION OF THE XVII CENTURY

In the present article the peculiarities of TIME concept representation in fiction of
the XVII century is described. It is proved that the most common and important metaphorical
models of this period in English literature are TIME IS A CONTAINER, TIME
IS RHYTHM, TIME IS THE SUPREME POWER / A MASTER, TIME IS A PRECIOUS
POSSESSION, TIME IS A MOVING OBJECT (LINEAR OR CYCLICAL),
TIME IS LENGTH, TIME IS A POINT, TIME IS RELATIVE, TIME IS AN OBJECT,
TIME IS A LIVING CREATURE.
