FUTURE OF RUSSIA: FOREIGN VERSION

The present paper focuses on the parameter of cognitive-discursive model of Russian
future – domestic policy. The material for the analysis is exploratory forecasts made by authors of political texts in British and American mass media (2000–2011). The basic parameter “domestic policy”, in its turn, can be divided into subsets (factors most frequently addressed in mass media when referring to the image of Russian future): politico-economic situation, population, natural resources, and armed forces. The paper presents a scenario which is meant for further conceptual analysis of the model. It also gives a detailed description of the basic component and its subsets, and analyses linguistic means used to create the image of Russian future: both “grim” and “bright”.
