TRANSLATION PROCESS TRANSFORMED: AUGMENTED TRANSLATION AS A PARADIGM FOR COMPREHENSIVE TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION INTO PROFESSIONAL TRANSLATION WORKFLOWS

Abstract

The article examines a new stage in the development of machine translation – the concept of Augmented Translation (AT), which involves integrating artificial intelligence into professional translation processes. The purpose of the work is to analyze the advantages of the ―augmented translation‖ concept over traditional machine translation (MT) and justify its role in improving the efficiency of translation activities. The research methodology includes a comparative analysis of technologies (MT vs. AT) and a review of historical development from rule-based machine translation to modern neural systems. The author relies on data from CSA Research and examines case studies of technology implementation in modern translation systems. The article concludes that augmented translation does not replace the translator but empowers him, establishing a new quality standard in the era of digitalization. The presented analysis can be applied in translation theory and practice to develop specific protocols that make interaction between translators and digital tools highly productive.
