CONCEPT OF INTERJECTION IN MODERN RUSSIAN AND ITALIAN LINGUISTICS

Abstract

The question of classification and functioning of interjections has long been a subject of debate among linguists. Currently, scholars in different countries of the world have formulated the main approaches to the study and description of these linguistic units, identified criteria for assigning a word to the class of interjections. Despite the fact that there are still many unresolved questions in modern linguistics regarding this class, it seems important to consolidate the main tenets formulated by Russian and foreign scholars. An integrated approach to the study of interjections has led to an interest in researching this problem using the material of different languages – in this case, Russian and Italian, and led the author to examine the works of Russian and Italian linguists. The object of the research is the sec tions about interjections in Russian and Italian grammar manuals, articles and materials that focus on controversial points of the main theory and aspects of the classification of interjections. The subject of the study is the description of this grammatical class and the classification of its components. An intermediate conclusion of the article is that Russian and Italian linguists are close in their understanding of the analysis of the class of interjections, and the theoretical foundations formulated by scientists in Italy and Russia complement each other and coincide on most points, including controversial ones.
