Abstract

The article gives an outline of the research results of the main trends in the development
of the French sentence syntactic structure in the preclassical period – up to the
XVIIth century. The author analyzes the simple sentence and reveals the processes of formation
of its structural invariants and grammatical categories. The material for the analysis
is French prose of the XIV–XVIth centuries.
