Abstract

The article focuses on the problem of discourse typology with a special emphasis on the militarypolitical
discourse type. Characteristics of the military-political discourse and its distinctive features are
analyzed along the lines of the comparative-contrastive approach. The сriteria for such an analysis are
components listed by V.I. Karasik in his fundamental article on discourse types. The results obtained
prove that military-political discourse occupies a distinctive place in discourse typology being a selfsufficient
type of discourse relative to military and political discourse types.
