Abstract

The needs to reconsider the methods and forms of teaching of civil aviation cadets is highlighted in the Federal State Educational Standards of Higher Professional Education of the 3d Generation in the direction of training – «Air Navigation» as well as in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) documents, in particular, in the document № 9835 called «Manual of the Implementation of ICAO Language Proficiency Requirements ». In the case of language teaching the emphasis must be placed on the three main approaches: competency-based approach, learner-centered approach and communicative approach. To satisfy the needs mentioned the interactive language teaching should be used that, in its turn, will change the teacher’s position in language teaching. So, it is necessary to identify the teacher’s roles and functions in the interactive language teaching and to define the teacher and cadets’ degrees of interaction.
