Abstract

The main mechanism to increase the competitiveness of the Russian education system is the improvement of quality at the levels of general, secondary, and higher professional education. However, for a number of objective reasons, educational programs in schools and universities do not always reflect the strategy of developing future graduates' competency requirements in educational institutions and employees in various professional fields. The study aims to analyze modern trends in improving the quality and competitiveness in general and professional education. The authors present and analyze current directions in education development (organization of network interaction of educational organizations at all levels, implementing professional training and retraining programs; personalization of qualification improvement programs), resources and tools for improving the quality of education. The analysis of modern trends in improving the quality and competitiveness in the education system allowed the authors to formulate the conditions for preparing a competitive teacher. The results of the study can be used to develop mechanisms to ensure quality education; to organize continuous and integrated training of professionally competent academic staff in order to increase its competitiveness.
