Abstract

With the implementation of educational reforms and the integration of technological innovations in universities, Virtual Simulation Experiment Teaching Platforms (VSETP) for foreign language learning are being actively used in the educational process of higher education institutions. These platforms serve immersive, interactive, and organizational functions; they allow for the simulation of real-life language scenarios for foreign language teaching and proficiency development. However, the use of VSETPs in foreign language teaching for developing students' cognitive abilities at both low and high levels, as well as the correlation between student engagement and their learning goals, remain insufficiently studied. The research aims to specify the application of the effective O-AMAS teaching model to address these challenges. The article explores measures for reforming language teaching and demonstrates a strategy for designing foreign language courses, using the discipline “Oral Translation of Scientific and Technical Texts,” taught in the fourth year of a bachelor's program. To achieve the research objectives, the following methods were employed: Bloom's Taxonomy of Educational Objectives, analysis and synthesis of scientific literature, and sociological survey. The course was tested through experimental work. The authors substantiated the features of teaching using VSETPs and the O-AMAS teaching model; identified aspects of integrating the platform with the O-AMAS model; and determined effective measures for reforming foreign language teaching to address the main challenges of the course.
