Abstract

The importance of competence and professionalism of the university teacher is considered. The authors analyzed the authority and professionalism of a university teacher. Based on the analysis of the literature on adult education the personal and professional competence of a university teacher were described. Aspects of the competence are presented as preconditions. They form the authority of the teacher of higher school. The materials can be used to develop professional models for university lecturers.
