Abstract

The relevance of this article is due to the modern requirements to improve the quality of teaching in the context of changing both the content and organization of the educational process. A teacher working in a diversity of communicative environments must have a high degree of communicative competence. The purpose of this article is to disclose the structure and essence of communicative competence as an important quality component of a teacher professional activity. Methods used for understanding, structuring and logical presentation of the material of the article are analysis, synthesis, generalization. Scientific novelty lies in the systematization of the historical aspects of the problem and the historiographical construction of an efficient scheme for the development and refinement of the concept of “communicative competence” based on the research of domestic and foreign scientists. The results can be used for the interpretation of the concept “communicative competence” in terms of content and intrinsic understanding of this definition.
