Abstract

Nowadays interdisciplinary integration of technical and linguistic disciplines is a fundamental and system-forming idea of modern education, as well as one of the directions of scientific and technological development of the Russian Federation. The educational system strives to train highly qualified engineers capable of carrying out professional activities in the international arena. Thus, to perform professional tasks an engineer needs to possess both professional and universal linguistic competences and synthesize knowledge. The study aims to develop theoretical foundations for interdisciplinary integration of technical and linguistic aspects in engineering education; to identify and characterize the interdisciplinary integration aspects of professional and linguistic academic disciplines. Standards analysis, theoretical analysis, synthesis, classification and study of pedagogical experience contributed to the study of integration at dif-ferent levels. The research characterizes the interdisciplinary integration aspects of technical and linguistic disciplines in engineering education: synthesis of professional and universal competences; educational con-tent; methods, forms and didactic means of organizing the educational process. The authors present a methodology to organize interdisciplinary education to form the professional readiness of future engineers for performingjob duties in a foreign language.
